Kornberg School of Dentistry to open clinic in Tamaqua

The Kornberg School of Dentistry has announced plans to open a satellite dental clinic in Tamaqua, a small borough in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. The clinic will serve a region with limited access to dental care, extending Kornberg's community health mission beyond Philadelphia into the rural communities of the Commonwealth.

Tamaqua, like many rural Pennsylvania communities, faces a shortage of practicing dentists, leaving many residents without regular preventive care. The new facility will be staffed by Kornberg faculty and advanced dental students, providing services including general dentistry, preventive care, and referrals for specialty needs. The hands-on experience will also enrich clinical training for participating students.

The clinic is expected to open later in 2026 and builds on the school's existing partnerships with community health organizations throughout Pennsylvania. It represents the latest expression of Kornberg's long-standing commitment to reducing oral health disparities — a mission that has also driven the school's work in North Philadelphia and underserved neighborhoods across the region.
